Rebuild old estate wall

Sunny day

This project was to rebuild approximately 100m of estate dry stone wall in Oker, Derbyshire. The wall had been in disrepair for a long time and much of the stone was missing – possibly ‘borrowed’ over the years for other purposes. We therefore had to buy extra stone from Natural Stone Sales in Rowsley who supplied fantastic quality limestone.

Hawthorn trees had grown up through the wall but as they had become part of the landscape the landowner opted to leave them in place, with gaps in the wall to accommodate them. There was also a footpath and gate to allow for.

There was heavy flooding in early 2021, which the wall withstood with aplomb.
